The Young Professionals of Wellington, a new and energetic voice for Wellington, celebrates it’s first year and ramps up for it’s future! We take a look back at the accomplishments of this group of young professionals with a drive to give a younger demographic a voice on local topics, raise awareness of our community, support local business and be philanthropic for the benefit of Wellington causes. This social action group was founded by its Chairman Michael Drahos and Kevin Swerdlin. Both Michael and Kevin were raised in Wellington and take great pride in playing an active role in its future. Michael is an attorney with Fowler-White, while Kevin is a real estate associate with Equestrian Sotheby’s. Year One boasts many achievements including The Jump Off, an event that raised money for Blooming with Autism, and was held at Wellington’s Horse Jumping Show Grounds. The crowning event of the year, Wicked at the Wanderers, was a sold-out event that brought in over $38,000 with all net proceeds going to the HELO Foundation, an organization that assists returning veterans get into an educational path upon their return from active service.
Year Two of YPOW kicks off with a new Chairperson, Kevin Shapiro, who will take over along with Meg Krueger. Kevin is a principal of the Shapiro|Pertnoy Companies, and was also raised in Wellington, while Meg is VP Sales & Sponsorship for Equestrian Sport Productions.
